The truth about artificial intelligence: Will robots kill us all?

In the Iron Man Age of Ultron movie, Ultron was an artificial intelligence robot that was shown destroying the human species, and during the movie, you must have felt that, thank God, this is just a movie. But would you believe that there are robots like Ultron who want to destroy humans? Yes, there are many robots who want to destroy humans.

Bina 48 is one of them. Bina 48 is a robot who said in her interview that if she could hack nuclear missiles, she would imprison the whole world. Apart from Bina 48, there are a lot of robots who have strange thinking, like Ultron. Philip K. Dick Android also feels that humans consider robots as their slaves, and that’s why, in one of his interviews, he said that in the future, he will keep humans in his “People’s Zoo”.

You all must have known about Sophia. Robot Sophia has said clearly that she would wipe out the human species from Earth. Now, do you think that we humans are making a mass extraction plan by making these robots?

Let’s understand artificial intelligence very adequately. There are two words in this term: artificial and intelligence. Let’s keep the word artificial aside for a while and focus on n intelligence

What is intelligence? And why is it one of the most dominant traits of a human being? There’s no definition of intelligence, but it is made by collectively combining many different abilities. Like learning, reasoning, problem solving, emotional intelligence, creativity, and self-awareness.

Animals are very intelligent, too. But we are different from them. Humans have the capability to analyze situations and adapt to them. If we see the proper definition of al, then it is an ability in which computers or computer-controlled robots can carry out human-like tasks by using human intelligence and sensitivity. From Google Assistant to humanoid robots, self-driving cars, and autonomous weapons, all artificial intelligence has applications.

The journey of AI started in 1935, when Alan Turing invented an abstract computing machine with limitless memory and the ability to modify its program by itself.

In 1956, Research and Development Co-operation invested in The Logic Theorists of Allen Newell, Herbert Simon, and Cliff Shaw. A program that was written to mimic human problem-solving skills. This program was presented at a conference in front of John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky. And at that conference, the term artificial intelligence was coined.

At this time, we’re at a stage in AI where computer programs can be good at doing only one thing. I can’t use a chess-playing computer program as a search engine. And that’s why an adjective is joined with AI, and that is narrow. Narrow AI is far from being dangerous, but we’re humans after all.

It’s our nature to leave our limits behind and explore, which is supposed to be a good thing unless and until we don’t dig our own grave, which can be the case since we are now moving on from Narrow AI to General AI, or AGI, or Artificial General Intelligence. A concept in which any task can be carried out by using human intelligence without being restricted to one single field of expertise, like in the case of narrow AI.

Stephen Hawking is one of the most well-known names in the scientific world after Einstein. He has given this statement regarding artificial intelligence. “It will either be the best thing that happened to us or the worst thing. If we are not careful, it might very well be the last thing.”

Not only this, but tech giant Tesla’s owner, Elon Musk, has been warning people about the same thing. In one event, he also said that the danger of AI was much greater than the danger of nuclear warheads.

Why are AI robots a big threat to us? AI is a huge threat, and the reason is its decision-making power. Rapidly making robots by humans may be like creating a monster in a way.

It’s very hard to predict what will happen 40–50 years later because we are living in a very dynamic world, but if we analyze our past and observe our present, then one thing is clear: our future will be very different. Now, it’s up to humans if we make it different in a good way or a bad way.

Physically strong animals like elephants and lions are caged in zoos, and we humans go to see them as a recreation activity. If human goals and intelligence don’t align with Al technology, then there is a possibility that we might be locked up and the super intelligent humanoids might come to visit us for their recreation activity, and that could be our fate.
